SSAFA golf day raises more than £20,000 to support the Armed Forces community in Scotland

A golf fundraiser at one of Scotland’s top courses has raised over £20,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Nearly 60 players made the pilgrimage to Scotland’s Northern Highlands for the inaugural SSAFA Royal Dornoch Golf Day, following in the footsteps of golf greats like Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus to play Royal Dornoch’s 18-hole links – all in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Participants at the event, which was held on Friday 10 April, enjoyed a full day of golf on Royal Dornoch’s Championship Course with live scoring straight to their phones before gathering for hospitality and prizegiving in the venue’s new £13.9million clubhouse.

SSAFA CEO, Air Marshal Steve Shell OBE, said: “Raising over £20,000 to help members of our Armed Forces community in their time of need is an incredible feat, and marks a significant contribution to SSAFA’s work with serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

“I can’t thank our hosts, sponsors, volunteers, and corporate friends enough for coming together to champion the Armed Forces community, enjoying an unforgettable golf experience while helping to ensure no one in the Forces family ever has to battle alone.”

The successful Scottish event will be replicated in 2027, this time at the SCHLOSS Roxburghe championship course in the Scottish Borders. More information and registration for the event will be available in due course.
