Safe to Serve

Safe To Serve is a dedicated support service for women currently serving in HM Armed Forces who are experiencing bullying, discrimination, harassment, or sexual harassment.

The service is designed to break a culture of silence, provide compassionate advocacy, and ensure every servicewoman is believed, supported, and protected.

Whether you need practical advice, emotional support, or simply someone to listen, our team is here for you.

 

What help can the Safe to Serve service provide?

  • Dedicated Social Worker Support: Receive help from a qualified, compassionate social worker offering confidential, one-to-one advice, practical and emotional support, and advocacy for servicewomen facing bullying, discrimination, harassment, or sexual harassment in the armed forces.
  • Breaking the Silence: Tackling the culture of silence: 86% of those affected do not make a complaint, often fearing nothing will change or that their career will be harmed.
  • Accessible Help: Reach out for support via phone, WhatsApp, or webchat, with a ‘no-wrong-door’ approach to referrals - making help easy to access wherever you are.
  • Belief and Protection: Part of the Seen & Heard project, this service ensures servicewomen are believed, supported, and protected, amplifying their voices and using anonymous insights to influence policy and drive change.
  • Compassionate Advocacy: Supporting servicewomen with compassion, helping to create safer, fairer environments for all women serving in the armed forces.

You can contact our dedicated social worker team for confidential support and advice online or by phone.  

SSAFA is outside of the military chain of command: we will listen and we will not judge. Your privacy when seeking help is fundamentally important to us.

The Safe to Serve service is available to all women currently serving in the Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force, regular and reserve.
