Volunteering Overseas

Volunteer for SSAFA with one of our Overseas Branches or Service Committees.

SSAFA provides support to the UK's Armed Forces community across the globe.  From personnel and their families deployed on overseas bases, to veterans who have settled in foreign countries - no matter where they find themselves, SSAFA is here to support them.

Our support network overseas is spearheaded by our Overseas Branches, and our Overseas Service Committees.  The branches largely support settled veterans and their families, and the Service Committees support the men and women, and their families, deployed overseas.

Both our branches and Service Committees rely on our volunteers - please find out more below.

Overseas Branches

SSAFA has Overseas Branches in five countries - France, Germany, Cyprus, Thailand and the Republic of Ireland - supporting both our active serving personnel and veterans, and families, in those countries.

If you live in any of these countries, and would like to help look after our Armed Forces community, as well as receive all the benefits that come with becoming a volunteer, then please go to the relevant overseas branch page below.

  • Choose your Overseas Branch.
  • Check the available roles under the volunteering section.
  • Click on the role that you are interested in.
  • If there are no roles available or suitable for you but you would still like to contribute, then please contact the branch using their contact webform.

Overseas Service Committees

SSAFA has Overseas Service Committees in seven countries - Brunei, the Netherlands, Cyrpus, Germany, Gibraltar, Nepal and Belgium - directly supporting our Armed Forces personnel and their families deployed to British bases.

If you live in any of these countries near to the British military bases - or live on one, as either a serving soldier, sailor, aviator or marine, or as a member of a serving person's family - and would like to help look after our Armed Forces community, as well as receive all the benefits that come with becoming a volunteer, then please go to the relevant Service Committee page below.

  • Choose your Overseas Service Committee.
  • Check the available roles shown on the page.
  • Click on the role that you are interested in.
  • If there are no roles available or suitable for you but you would still like to contribute, then please contact our volunteering team.
