Final push to support Army Training Staff Sergeant on Ultra Race for SSAFA!
23 July 2025
SSAFA is proud to support Aaron Mills, a 34-year-old Training Staff Sergeant currently serving at Blandford Camp, Dorset, with 11 (Royal School of Signals) Signal Regiment, as he takes on a gruelling 100-mile ultra-marathon across the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) to raise funds for SSAFA this Saturday 26 July 2025.
With 17 years of service under his belt, Aaron is no stranger to endurance, pressure, or mental grit. As the Training Staff Sgt responsible for managing thousands of trainee soldiers on their journey to the Field Army, he’s now setting himself a personal challenge that pushes those limits even further.
On Saturday, Aaron will begin the GB Ultras Bannau Brycheiniog 100-mile race – a solo, self-navigated challenge with no sleep, minimal support, and a 40-hour cut-off. He hopes to finish in the top 100 of the 250 competitors and earn the coveted golden buckle, all while raising vital funds for SSAFA.
Aaron Commented: “SSAFA is a charity close to my heart. They support not just serving personnel like me, but veterans and families too. The local SSAFA team at Blandford are amazing, and this is my way of giving something back – by putting my body through a bit of pain while having fun doing what I love.”
