A statement on the attack on RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus

02 March 2026

The events over the weekend, and more specifically the attack on the Sovereign Base Area of Akrotiri last night (Sunday March 1, 2026) will cause some concern for serving personnel and their families, as well as SSAFA volunteers and Community Health employees, on Cyprus, and UK Armed Forces personnel elsewhere in the Middle East.

SSAFA is offering support to colleagues and the Armed Forces community during this time.

For support, please contact Forcesline online or call 0800 260 6767 - available to serving personnel and their families.

RAF personnel and their families can also access the RAF Personal Support & Social Work Service, as well as Forcesline.

Thank you,

Steve Shell
Chief Executive of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity
