Volunteers Week

29 May 2021

Volunteers Week takes place 1-7 June every year. It's a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make to our communities and say thank you.  In SSAFA Wiltshire, we are entirely staffed by volunteers and are expected to run our own affairs as well as undertaking the casework necessary to help people in need on our patch.

When SSAFA was set up in 1885, communications were rudimentary by today’s standards and so branches were formed with the expectation that each would be able to function on their own.  We now have a Central Office in London to support us, but we are still proud of being a local charity, helping local people.

This means that as well as casework - dealing with our beneficiaries and working with other charities and organisations to fulfil their needs - administration has to be done.  There is a place for everyone in SSAFA Wiltshire, and we are always keen to hear from people who might not have any specific skills to offer, but who are willing to help.  We’ll find something to suit you, don't worry!

If the stories you read in Volunteers Week inspired you to think about donating some of your time to SSAFA, please get in touch.  You will find our contact details on our main website page.  Currently, we have specific vacancies for the following roles:
