New Year New You!
30 December 2021
The Pandemic has brought home to all of us just how important a sense of community is. In Wiltshire, we have one of the biggest veteran and serving service communities in the country and for our Forces Family the challenges that have beset us all over the past two years can be even harder to endure. Throughout, SSAFA Wiltshire has continued to provide practical help and moral support to our clients, but we need to find more volunteers willing to give some of their time, or expertise, to ensure we continue to give the same first-class service that we have since 1885.
Our caseworkers have had to adapt to working remotely rather than face-to-face, and if you want to get involved with finding solutions to individual problems, then please consider joining us. Just as important though, are the behind the scenes roles without which our ability to carry out casework is made much harder:
THE SALISBURY DIVISION SECRETARY is the first point of contact and coordinates our day-to-day business in the Salisbury area. You will take enquiries from potential clients, match new clients to available caseworkers and provide support to your team. With basic IT and admin skills, you will represent, and coordinate the work of, SSAFA in and around the city. Find out more.
THE BRANCH FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR works with the branch to develop and deliver a Fundraising Plan. Although your first thought might be collections, in fact, we raise funds through a range of local sources including grants, trusts, appeals and sponsors. We are looking for someone who can develop local contacts, build and motivate a team at events and innovate. This vital role can be fitted around your day-to-day commitments and will involve weekend working from time to time. Find out more.
DIGITAL MARKETING VOLUNTEER is a recent addition to SSAFA's volunteer opportunities and reflects the increasing reliance of or clients on digital media which is now our best way of reaching those in need. People who need our help need to know we're here! Although you will ideally be a user of one or more social media platforms, experience of running a page or updating a website is not required as relevant training will be given. Find out more.
Training and ongoing support is given to all our volunteers, and is tailored to the individual's needs. You don't need to be an expert in anything, or have a military background, just a desire to help people. To explore all the current volunteering opportunities in Wiltshire, check out our homepage.
