John joined SSAFA in 1994 as a caseworker and then in 1996 joined the Branch Executive Committee as Divisional Secretary of the Suffolk Coastal Division responsible for the coordination of all casework within the division, a position he held until 2010.

In 2003 John took on the additional task of Branch IT Coordinator, which he still holds now. As IT coordinator John has been involved in a number of important IT developments within the Association, both nationally and locally including the design, development and roll-out of the Casework Management System, testing e-learning modules and latterly assisting the rollout of SSAFA Office 365 to all our volunteers.
n addition to his IT duties John can be found driving the branch's exhibition van to events throughout the county.

Suffolk Branch of SSAFA was founded in 1885 and John has researched its history with particular attention to the work of the Association, both nationally and locally, during World War One where his research has bn used by both SSAFA and the national and local press.
