The founder and Race Director of SSAFA's Cardiff 5K Road Race Series has been shortlisted for two Welsh Veterans Award, recognising almost three decades of service to the Armed Forces community.
Graham Finlayson BEM has been named as a finalist for both the Lifetime Achievement Award and Military Charity Fundraiser of the Year, recognising his military service and his longstanding commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
Following 28 years' service with 2nd (V) Battalion the Royal Regiment of Wales, Graham founded the SSAFA Cardiff 5K Road Race Series in 1998. What began as a local fundraising event has grown into one of Wales' best-established road race series.
Now in its 27th year, the three-race series has become a respected fixture of Cardiff's summer running calendar, attracting runners of all abilities while raising vital funds for SSAFA South East Wales branch.
Michael Wheeler, South East Wales Branch Chair, said: "Being shortlisted for both Lifetime Achievement and Military Charity Fundraiser of the Year is fantastic recognition for Graham.
"For 27 years, he's given his time, energy and commitment to making the Cardiff 5K Series the success it is today. Thanks to his dedication, the event continues to raise vital funds that help us support serving personnel, veterans and their families across South East Wales.
"Everyone at SSAFA South East Wales is delighted to see him recognised. These nominations are thoroughly deserved."
