Our SSAFA street collectors do an amazing job!

Our street collectors are among some of SSAFA’s unsung heroes - out in all sorts of weather and in all seasons, but they do a wonderful job for us and their efforts are truly appreciated.

Street collections have become the norm for many worthy charities who need to raise their profile and attract vital funding to keep their valuable work going. This means a greater call on the public’s good will to support the increasing number of causes fighting for their share of donations.

SSAFA organises a number of street collections each year and we are always amazed by the generosity of shoppers and tourists who support our work in this way. This support by the public cannot be underestimated and we are extremely grateful for all the kind contributions.

Street collections are also an excellent way of promoting SSAFA and the work we do through talking to the public about how we are helping those people who have served their country, often at great cost, and their families.

Many people love to chat with our friendly street collectors and are genuinely interested in the work we are involved with. To some, we are even raising the work of SSAFA with them for the first time - there are still a lot of people who don’t know about SSAFA and the support we provide.

If you see our street collectors when you’re out and about, please do say ‘hello’. They always love a chat and appreciate a friendly wave, too. We sometimes have a gazebo at a central point during our street collections and would love to see you there as well.

All the money raised from our street collections goes towards helping veterans and service personnel and their families in our local community. Even a small amount of change goes a long way - every little coin adds up to help more people in need.

We are always keen to hear from anyone wanting to become a street collector for us and volunteers can give as much or as little time on collection days as their time allows.
