Veterans Railcard partners with SSAFA
16 October 2026
Veterans Railcard has become a Corporate Partner of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
The newly established partnership between SSAFA and Veterans Railcard will directly support SSAFA’s work with special emphasis on the charity’s Transitional Mentoring Scheme.
SSAFA’s mentoring programme benefits those leaving the Armed Forces and returning to civilian life, as well as their spouses and those recently retired from the Services. It helps motivate, support, build resilience, and empower people to fulfil their potential in their new lives outside of the military.
The Veterans Railcard is available to veterans who have served at least one day in HM Armed Forces. It saves a third on rail travel across Britain, helping veterans stay connected to the people and places that matter most.
It also benefits those closest to veterans, offering a third off rail travel for an adult companion and 60% off fares for up to four children.
By helping to reduce travel costs and making rail travel more accessible, the Veterans Railcard supports SSAFA’s work, enabling veterans to stay connected, access support networks, and navigate life after service with greater ease.
Speaking for SSAFA, Aaron Flemons said: “Corporate Partnerships are incredibly valuable to SSAFA as they provide life changing support to the entire Armed Forces community from those who have served to their families who support them.
“SSAFA is extremely grateful for the support and commitment of partners such as Veterans Railcard, which like SSAFA, provides demonstrable and practical support to the Armed Forces community when and where it’s needed.”
Catherine Lyver from Railcard, added: “SSAFA provides invaluable support to the veteran community, and Veterans Railcard is proud to partner with an organisation making such a meaningful difference.
“Transitioning to life after service can bring its challenges. By offering a third off rail travel for veterans and their families, the Veterans Railcard can help ex-service personnel stay connected, pursue new opportunities, and access vital support services, like SSAFA, that are there when they need them most.”
