SSAFA leaves Crufts with a tale to tell

12 March 2025

Crufts, arguably the world’s most well-known dog show, was held recently at Birmingham’s NEC and representatives of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity were there.

SSAFA’s stand was a magnet for visitors keen to learn more about the charity – which celebrates its 140th anniversary this year – and those manning the stall with dogged determination barely had time to pause between visitors.

Mark Duggan, who chairs the Solihull Branch, commented: “What a great weekend, extremely enjoyable and productive in equal measure, with so much awareness raised about us and our work.

“We met so many lovely people, as well as veterans and serving personnel coming to say hello, beneficiaries and their families passing on their thanks for SSAFA's support and a number of enquiries from people who would like to volunteer for SSAFA in different regions, and the interest shown was really encouraging.”

Mark went on to thank all within SSAFA from his branch and more widely who supported the charity’s presence at Crufts, adding: “It was down to the time, energy, and goodwill that you put in that made our stand at Crufts such a great success, and that’s because it is people who make SSAFA what it is. You’re all awesome.”
