SSAFA helps veterans unlock new career opportunities in Kendal and North Lancs

07 November 2025

SSAFA is helping veterans across Cumbria and North Lancashire take the next step in their careers with a new employment and networking event at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, on Friday 14 November from 8am to 11am.

The Forces Families and Futures event - organised by SSAFA’s Cumbria Branch in partnership with One Vision Uniformed Services - will connect veterans, reservists, and serving personnel with employers, recruiters, and education providers who value the skills and experience gained through military service.

Attendees will hear from inspiring guest speakers and meet local businesses offering genuine career and training opportunities.

Organisations including TeamInc, SP Training, A W Jenkinson, Story Contracting, Westmorland and Furness County Council, Cumberland Council, University of Cumbria and Lancaster & Morecambe College and many more will be attending.

Helen Fergie, SSAFA Cumbria Branch Fundraising Coordinator and organiser of the event, said: “SSAFA has always been about supporting the whole military community - and that includes helping veterans and their families find rewarding futures after service. This event is about confidence, connection, and recognising the incredible value that military experience brings to the workplace.”

The event is free to attend and open to veterans, reservists, serving personnel, and their families or partners.
