Richard Burns tribute Impreza taking part in A Driving Force 2026

A Driving Force for SSAFA is a premier biennial charity driving event and major fundraising initiative for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Every two years, a fleet of the wild and the wonderful, the sedate and the swift, take on a cross-continental trip covering thousands of miles and raising thousands of pounds for SSAFA.
Kent resident John Hannan is taking part in this year’s epic, known as ADF26, in his beloved 2001 Subaru Impreza World Rally Championship (WRC) Replica.
ADF26 involves 60 cars and support vehicles, experiencing an 11-day driving adventure to Bosnia from August 1 to 11, hoping to raise £100,000 for SSAFA.
John, who lives in Rochester, is rightly proud to have been a member of this charity event since 2014. He is equally proud that his Richard Burns tribute car is on a 2001 registration plate, the same year Richard - who died in 2005 - became the only Englishman to win the WRC.
The Impreza has been substituted for the real car on occasions, as the rally-winning Impreza is in a private collection, and it has attended charity dinners, been used in photo shoots, and even video game launches. As well as taking part in ADF26, John is receiving many requests this year to exhibit his car as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of Richard winning the WRC.
Said John: "I’m excited and very much looking forward to the 2026 event and raising much needed funds for SSAFA. For me, A Driving Force for SSAFA 2026 provides an exciting challenge to raise more funds for SSAFA, while driving some of the best roads in Europe.
“Being part of A Driving Force allows me to fulfil my dream of being able to share my version of the WRC experience with everyone.”
