A Newcastle boxing promoter who has spent years raising thousands of pounds for Armed Forces families has been honoured by SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, following his final fundraising event.

Paul Fiske, a former RAF aircraft technician and founder of the popular Flat Snout Fight Night series, hosted his 12th and final boxing fundraiser at the Britannia Airport Hotel in Newcastle before retiring from organising the events.

Over the years, Paul’s fight nights have raised tens of thousands of pounds of vital funding for SSAFA’s Tyne and Wear branch, helping support serving personnel, veterans and their families across the region.

In recognition of his long-standing commitment, SSAFA presented Paul with a specially engraved shield during the evening, thanking him for his years of dedication and support.

Paul then presented SSAFA Tyne and Wear Branch Chair Chris Tierney with a cheque for £3,000 raised from the event.

Flat Snout Fight Night has become a well-known fixture on the local boxing calendar over the years, giving beginners, veterans and amateur fighters the opportunity to step into the ring while raising money for Armed Forces families in the Northeast.

Chris Tearney, Chair of SSAFA Tyne and Wear, said: “Paul’s support over the years has been nothing short of remarkable. Through his passion for boxing and his commitment to helping others, he has raised thousands of pounds that have directly benefited members of the Armed Forces community across Tyne and Wear.

“It was a privilege to present Paul with a shield recognising his years of dedication to SSAFA. We are incredibly grateful for everything he has done to support local serving personnel, veterans and their families, and we wish him every success in the future.”

Paul Fiske said: “It has been a pleasure to support SSAFA over the years. The charity does incredible work for serving personnel, veterans and their families, and I’m proud that Flat Snout Fight Night has been able to play a small part in helping that work continue.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has boxed, volunteered, sponsored, attended and supported the events over the years. The success of the fight nights has only been possible because of the fantastic people around me."

Funds raised through the event will help SSAFA’s Tyne and Wear branch continue providing practical, emotional and financial support to local members of the Armed Forces community when they need it most.
