Dogged determination sees Hannah and hounds raise £1,800 for SSAFA

08 July 2025

North Yorkshire-based dog trainer Hannah Winship – with four-legged support in the form of black Labs Jet and Onyx – has raised some £1,800 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Hannah, who owns and runs Hounds with Hannah Dog Training, just south of York, is a well-established and professionally qualified dog trainer, with more than 15 years’ experience under her belt as a practitioner. She runs courses that include puppy classes to behaviour consultations and Kennel Club Bronze, Silver, and Gold Good Citizen Classes for man’s – and woman’s – best friend.

This recent fundraiser – which around 50 people and dogs attended – was the eighth for military charities and the first for SSAFA, which marks its 140th anniversary this year and has provided support to countless serving personnel and veterans, and their families since 1885.

Hannah – who offers a 20% discount on all courses for Armed Forces personnel – said: “Both my grandads served, and my boyfriend is a serving soldier, so the Armed Forces have always had a special place in my heart, and I like to help where possible, in particular making sure those who have served and their families can be looked after.”
