AFCFT funding supports Glasgow’s Helping Heroes RESOLVE project

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) has awarded just over £69,000 to SSAFA’s Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH). The grant from AFCFT’s Family Focus programme will go towards the RESOLVE project run by GHH.

A partnership between SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and Glasgow City Council, GHH helps those in the city and locale who are serving or have served, as well as their families. It is a single point of contact gateway that improves local access to a range of services including financial, housing, and employability advice for the Armed Forces community.

Sy Harty, Service Manager at GHH, explained more about RESOLVE, saying: “SSAFA’s RESOLVE project is a 12-month pilot for families of wounded, injured or sick (WIS) veterans in Glasgow and the surrounding area. RESOLVE will involve group and one-to-one sessions for families focusing on building their resilience and confidence to manage their circumstances and develop awareness of available support.

“But beyond that explanation of the project, RESOLVE will restore stability, hope, empowerment, and crucially, dignity to those families who come to GHH for support, and so to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, we say thank you on behalf of the families we’ll be supporting with this award.”

AFCFT Chief Executive Anna Wright commented: “For many families, quietly carrying the weight of service and sacrifice when a loved one is Wounded, Injured or Sick can feel overwhelming. Through our Family Focus programme, we’re looking forward to better connections for families, more accessible advice and support, and a chance to regain confidence that can easily be lost.

“SSAFA’s RESOLVE project will seek to empower families, building their resilience in what could be a transformative experience for those involved – we’re looking forward to seeing the impact this pilot project could have.”
