Behind the Uniform: SSAFA offer vital help at Caterham Waitrose

23 February 2026

Volunteers from SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, London South West Branch will be at Waitrose in Caterham on Saturday, 28 February 2026, speaking with shoppers and sharing information about the support available to members of the Armed Forces community.

The London Southwest Branch team will be on hand throughout the day to raise awareness of SSAFA’s work and to offer guidance to veterans, serving personnel and families who may need practical, emotional or financial support. Shoppers will also be able to pick up information about how SSAFA can help and how local people can get involved.

The event is part of SSAFA’s ongoing community outreach, aimed at making support more visible and accessible in everyday settings.

Chair of SSAFA London Southwest Branch, Rod Croucher CBE said: "We are very grateful to the Manager and staff of Waitrose Caterham for supporting our presence at the store on Saturday 28th February.  This allows our Branch volunteers to tell members of the public about our work to support members of the Armed Forces community (serving personnel, veterans, and families) in need in Southwest London.  It is also a great opportunity to raise funds to support our work through generous donations from the public.”
