SSAFA HELPS BRING NEW VETERANS HUB TO LANCASTER
29 May 2026
The new hub will be based at Lancaster Fire Station, which has generously offered the use of a room for the initiative. It will provide a welcoming space where members of the Armed Forces community can access advice, support and camaraderie.
The hub will start on Saturday, June 13, and will then be open on the second and fourth Saturday of every month.
Representatives from SSAFA Lancashire Branch and Bay Veterans Association will be on hand to offer information, guidance and signposting to support services, while also providing an opportunity for veterans, serving personnel and their families to meet others with shared experiences.
SSAFA Community Engagement Volunteer Martin Stevenson said: “We know that many veterans and serving personnel value the opportunity to meet others who understand military life. This new hub will provide a friendly and informal environment where people can access support, ask questions or simply enjoy a chat over a brew. We’re delighted to be working alongside Bay Veterans Association and grateful to Lancaster Fire Station for helping make this possible. Together, we’re creating a place where the Armed Forces community can feel welcome, connected and supported.”
Bay Veterans Association Director Allen ‘Dizzy’ Dawson said: “Veterans often tell us that the biggest challenge can be knowing where to turn or feeling isolated after leaving service. By bringing organisations together under one roof, we’re making it easier for people to access help and reconnect with their local military community. This partnership is all about supporting each other and ensuring that nobody in the Armed Forces family feels they face challenges alone. We’re looking forward to welcoming people through the door.”
The hub is open to all veterans who may be seeking advice, support or simply the chance to meet others from the Armed Forces community.
