SSAFA New Forest collaborate with Dolphins!

17 February 2020

Matt Lamont, the Head coach of the Marchwood Dolphins Rugby team at 17 Port & Maritime Regiment RLC recently contacted SSAFA Hampshire with a view of partnering together to raise funds and hold events that would help promote SSAFA and raise our profile further within the British Army and beyond through Rugby. The Marchwood Dolphins have a strong social media outreach and are keen to promote SSAFA as much as possible e.g. team dinners and charity auctions. The team have also had massive success in the last season, and look to tour Canada in 2020 along with their UK match dates.

Marchwood lies in our New Forest Divisional area and Sue Larking (Divisional Secretary, New Forest, Hampshire) our lead there took up this exciting opportunity. Warm Up tops with the SSAFA logo were subsequently purchased for the players and staff to wear before games and plans are in hand for the SSAFA logo to be included on the shoulder of the playing strips.

Another great example of SSAFA and our Armed Forces working together – hats off yet again to Sue and her team who are working wonders in the New Forest and really raising our profile across the New Forest and beyond.

Pictured are the Marchwood Dolphins with Sue centre at her first match and also the Training Tops with the team and SSAFA logo.
