Mayor of Winchester’s Community Award for three SSAFA volunteers

19 May 2021

Lawrence Ashbridge, Sally Wesley, and Leona Mani were delighted to receive the delivery of their award, for their outstanding volunteering activities.

Lawrence Ashbridge, Branch Chairman at SSAFA Wiltshire, said: “I was surprised to receive the Mayor of Winchester’s Community Award for my work as a Caseworker at the brilliant Winchester division for the last five years or so. I am grateful for this recognition but as ever, I continue to be humbled by the massive team effort of our SSAFA volunteers”.

Leona Mani, a Caseworker at SSAFA Hampshire, was nominated for dedicating her time and energy to the needs of others through charities and the schools in Winchester. In addition to being a SSAFA Caseworker, Leona is also a Trustee of Winchester Basics Bank and a Governor at Stanmore Primary School.

Leona Mani, a Caseworker at SSAFA Hampshire, said: “Being able to help make a difference to someone’s life, when it really matters, is extremely rewarding and humbling - never more so than over the last year. My grateful thanks to the Mayor of Winchester for this recognition”.

Sally Wesley, a Caseworker at SSAFA Hampshire, said: “I feel really chuffed about receiving this award. I was able to thank the Mayor personally when I met him recently, which was fantastic”.

The Mayor of Winchester’s Community Awards recognise and celebrate the organisations and individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help others – which has been especially important this past year.
