Volunteer praises support from Public

One of our Forces heroes is Lieutenant Colonel Ash Ashbridge MBE, a member of the Army Reserves and a volunteer for Hampshire Branch of SSAFA the Armed Forces charity. Not only does he continue to volunteer for the charity and carry out casework, he’s been mobilised to lead the planning team for the Joint Military Command South West.
“I am based in Tidworth and my work involves supporting the NHS and other Civil Authorities in the South West. I particularly deal with requests for support which the MoD receive from other government departments.
“The MOD is supporting the NHS through this critical period and I am proud to be part of the fantastic tri-service team in the South West. Our Armed Forces have a world-wide recognition of being adaptable in any contingency, even during a pandemic and my colleagues prove this every day.
“As an Army Reservist and SSAFA volunteer, I have witnessed first-hand the unwaning appreciation that the great British public has for our Armed Forces and the charity, and it keeps me going.
“SSAFA have been helping military families for 135 years and continue to get to those in need, despite the challenging times we are in. Not just here in Hampshire, but across the country, I see that our caseworkers are supporting veterans and families safely and with dignity. They all deserve a round of applause.”
