SSAFA Gloucestershire volunteer Emyln Phennah has been awarded a Gloucestershire High Sheriff’s Award for his work during the Covid 19 pandemic and lockdown. This was awarded through the BBC South-West Make-a-Difference Superstars scheme and was announced on the Nicky Price Show on BBC Radio Gloucestershire today, Friday 11th September. The High Sheriff herself, Helen Lovatt, informed Emlyn in a call during the show.

Emlyn has been working with AgeUK Gloucestershire on a veterans’ contact scheme called Veterans Connections. He has called over 250 veterans around to county since May with encouragement and help when needed. He has provided a link to the rest of the world for many socially isolated veterans who would otherwise have had very little outside contact. He is a great enthusiast and an inspiration to the rest of us.
