SSAFA Big Brew Up at Redford Barracks, Edinburgh

06 October 2026

On Wednesday 23rd September, SSAFA held a Big Brew Up event (https://www.ssafa.org.uk/support-us/our-national-campaigns/big-brew-up) at Redford Barracks in Edinburgh, hosted by our British Army colleagues.

SSAFA's Big Brew Up campaign is all about connecting over a cuppa. It sees families, friends, colleagues and communities gather together to share tea and chat while raising funds to support the Armed Forces community.

Members of the Edinburgh & Lothians branch of SSAFA and the SSAFA Scottish Regional Office supported the event.

There was a fantastic turnout with tea, cakes (many baked by the personnel at the barracks) and loads of great conversations going on between SSAFA and the military community based at the barracks. There were even hand-knitted tea cosies! £240 in funds was also raised.

Edinburgh & Lothians branch chair Fergus Hardie was interviewed at the event by BFBS Scotland, you can see the interview here:
