Host Your Own Fundraising Event for SSAFA Plymouth – Big or Small, Every Bit Helps!

Do you love bringing people together? Got a passion for making a difference in your community? Whether you’re planning a coffee morning, a quiz night, or a full-blown charity concert, SSAFA Plymouth invites you to host your own fundraising event – big or small – in support of local veterans and their families.

Why Support SSAFA Plymouth?

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been supporting servicemen and women, veterans, and their families for over 130 years. Here in Plymouth, we provide practical, emotional, and financial support to those who have given so much in service to our country.

But we can’t do it alone.

Your support helps us reach more people in need, from elderly veterans living alone to young military families facing unexpected challenges.

Your Event, Your Way

There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to fundraising. The beauty of hosting your own event is that it can be as simple or spectacular as you like. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

  • Bake sale or coffee morning with friends and neighbours

  • Sponsored walk, run, or cycle around your local area

  • Quiz night or bingo at your local pub or community centre

  • Craft fair or market stall with handmade goods

  • Themed dinner party or BBQ in your garden

  • Raffle or prize draw with donated gifts

No matter what you choose, every pound you raise will help us continue our life-changing work in the Plymouth area.

We’re Here to Help

You won’t be doing this alone! SSAFA Plymouth can offer guidance, materials, and even help you promote your event. Need collection buckets, posters, or branded items? Just let us know.

We’d also love to share your success on our website and social media – your efforts might inspire others to do the same!

Meet the team

The team at SSAFA Plymouth is dedicated to helping veterans, service personnel, and their families, in the local community. Our commitment is to provide support with experienced, non-judgemental and friendly advice, as well as a variety of practical services that cover a range of emotional, practical and financial issues. We are proud to say that we help our Armed Forces family whenever they need us, for as long as they need us. Here at SSAFA Plymouth, we have a variety of different personalities that together make our team so special.

Kerry-Leigh Watkinson

Branch Chairman

I joined the SSAFA team at the end of 2024 as a Royal Navy veteran, having previously served as a Medic. In addition to my military background, I am a service wife to a serving Royal Marine and mother to three service children, which gives me a deep understanding of the unique and complex challenges of military family life. In my role as Branch Chairman, I am privileged to lead a dedicated team of volunteers who work collaboratively to provide invaluable support to our beneficiaries. I highly recommend volunteering with SSAFA to anyone interested in making a meaningful difference within the military community.
