Free concert in Perth to mark Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Eleven hundred free seats are up for grabs at a concert on Thursday, June 2 with donations from a retiring collection going to the Perth & Kinross Branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Presented by the Lieutenancy and Council of Perth and Kinross, the event – to be held in the Gannochy Trust Auditorium of Perth Concert Hall – begins at 7pm, and organisers say that the evening of entertainment will feature music through the ages with bands, dancers, and audience sing-a-longs.

Andy Middlemiss BEM DL, the Branch Chairman of SSAFA Perth & Kinross, said: “Her Majesty The Queen is Patron of SSAFA, and this free concert is a wonderful way to mark her incredible reign of 70 years and to help SSAFA, the UK’s oldest tri-service military charity, carry on helping our veterans, serving personnel, and their families when, where, and how they need support.”

Andy added that while a free concert, it is a ticketed event, saying: “It’s pretty straightforward to book [see below], but I’d suggest people hurry because this event is sure to be a full house and those 1,100 seats will be snapped up soon.”

He also said that there will be a “bucket collection” of donations at the end of the Platinum Jubilee Concert to help SSAFA Perth & Kinross continue its work in the area.
