Llandudno community walks the Great Orme to support Armed Forces families
09 April 2026
Families, friends and local businesses joined SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, for a community walk aimed at raising awareness and encouraging new volunteers in North Wales.
The event, organised by the SSAFA North Wales Branch as part of the first SSAFA Wales Two-Point Challenge, a new annual event encouraging people across Wales to get active while supporting the Armed Forces community and raising awareness of the charity’s work.
Participants included volunteers, supporters and staff from the Alexandra Hotel in Llandudno, helping create a strong community atmosphere for the event.
SSAFA supports serving personnel, veterans and their families when they face challenges such as financial hardship, housing difficulties and family pressures. Much of this support is delivered locally through a network of volunteers.
Paul Langshaw, Chair of SSAFA North Wales Branch, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people come together for our Two-Point Challenge around the Great Orme. We had brilliant support from families, friends and the team at the Alexandra Hotel, and the atmosphere on the day was fantastic.
“Events like this help create a real buzz around SSAFA locally. They bring people together, build new partnerships and raise awareness of the support available for our Armed Forces community.”
Following the success of the event, the North Wales Branch hopes to build on this momentum with more community activities in the area.
