Sally goes for a Guinness World Record at the 2022 London Marathon, and it’s sure to be a cracker
25 July 2022
A Wiltshire-based mental Health advocate and former Army major will run the TCS London Marathon dressed as a Jacobs cracker to raise money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Sally Orange will also attempt a Guinness World Record during the run on October 2 to be the fastest Marathon competitor dressed as a savoury snack – with sponsorship from Jacobs.
Sally is no stranger to taking on challenge events with food themes, having run marathons on every continent in a fruit costume for charity, and holding a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon dressed as a nut. Sally uses the fun costumes to break down barriers to discuss mental health.
Already something of a big cheese on the marathon racing circuit, Sally has an extensive résumé of fitness accolades. She captained the first British female team to complete the Race Across America and completed the Marathon des Sables – known as the “toughest footrace on Earth”. She has also cycled the length of New Zealand and took in the English Channel swim relay.
Sally said: “I'm really looking forward to taking on this record-breaking challenge, and dressing up is a creative, and fun way to address a serious message.
“People often ask me if I'm crackers with all the marathons I have run, without realising that I do in fact suffer with a mental illness. I thought I'd embrace the concept and let people know I really am ‘crackers’ about breaking down the stigma associated with mental ill health."
