RAF Benevolent Fund awards £61,650 to SSAFA

The RAF Benevolent Fund has awarded a grant of £61,650 over three years to SSAFA to help out vital work at Norton House, Stanford Hall which provides accommodation and respite for the friends and family of service personnel, as well as our Mentoring team, who help service leavers transition into civilian life.

Irene Greenwood, Welfare Programmes Manager, said: “Working closely with military charities is an essential part of the Fund’s support to the RAF Family, allowing us to deliver a wide variety of projects which underpin their aims to improve the lives of their serving personnel and their families. The work that SSAFA undertakes is vital; even more so during these uncertain times globally and the Fund stands by ready to help wherever we can.”

Jonathan Sandall, Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications at SSAFA, said: “SSAFA is very appreciative to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund for awarding us a grant totalling more than £61,650 over a three-year period. The funds will help support our Mentoring programme that aims to provides long-term, one-to-one support for service leavers during transition and up to two years post-discharge.

“The monies will also fund our vital work at Norton House, Stanford Hall which provides accommodation and respite for the friends and family of service men and women who are undergoing treatment for illness or injury at the neighbouring Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC).”
