Gary McEwan steps into the ring for charity in memory of Levi
10 April 2026
Serving Royal Navy chef Gary McEwan will take to the ring in an Ultra White Collar Boxing event in Fareham on 11 April, raising money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and fighting not just for victory, but in heartfelt memory of his late brother-in-law, Levi Kent, who tragically lost his life in 2023.
Gary, currently based in Portsmouth at HMS Daring, has committed to this challenge as a way to honour Levi’s memory while raising vital funds for SSAFA, who provide lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
The event, part of the popular Ultra White Collar Boxing series, brings together individuals from all walks of life, who train intensively before stepping into the ring for a good cause. For Gary, this journey has been deeply personal.
“Levi meant a great deal to our family, and this is my way of keeping his memory alive while doing something positive,” said Gary McEwan. “SSAFA does incredible work supporting people in the Armed Forces community, and I’m proud to raise money for such an important cause.”
Balancing the demands of military and family life with rigorous boxing training, Gary has shown determination and resilience in preparing for fight night. His efforts reflect both his professional discipline as a Royal Navy chef and his personal commitment to making a difference.
The Fareham event is expected to draw strong community support, with friends, family, and supporters coming together to honour Levi’s memory and cheer Gary on as he steps into the ring.
