Curry lunch for SSAFA is a hot topic

11 May 2024

Famed Glasgow restaurateur Satty Singh of Mr Singh’s India blazed a trail at the city’s Army Personnel Centre recently as he cooked and donated chicken bhuna and chickpea dhal in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

The event raised nearly £1,100 to help fund SSAFA’s work in Scotland.

The lunch was organised by SSAFA Glasgow and Renfrewshire volunteer Mike, who said: “I’m just delighted at how much was raised.

“Sadly, we’ve all seen those in the Armed Forces community – serving or retired, Regulars or Reserves, or their families – who are struggling, but SSAFA knows that no-one should have to battle on alone and this £1,100 will go towards making sure that we’re there in Scotland to help people when and where we need to.”

RSM Nigel Saul – who completed the recent Glasgow Kiltwalk for SSAFA – added: “I’d just like to say a big personal thank you for your support with the event, I have had many people speak to me and say it was a fantastic event and great to see it back in the building.”
