It's 'Geronimo' for Jason as he jumps for SSAFA!

26 August 2021

Leicestershire local Jason Pusey will skydive for SSAFA this Sunday (August 29) – If the weather is set fair. It will be Jason's first skydive and he's doing it to raise funds for SSAFA because, as Jason said: “I basically want to say a big thank you to SSAFA for all they have done for me. I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.”

Jason has ambitions to join the Army Reserves, and his great-grandparents and grandparents fought in the First and Second World Wars respectively. His grandfather was part of the Westminster Dragoons (79th Armoured Division) and the driver of a Sherman “Crab” flail tank, serving in Normandy and elsewhere in Western Europe in 1944.

Jason said: “I wanted to choose an Armed Forces charity as I'm quite passionate to the Armed Forces in general, and I feel without the motivation I have to join the Army, I wouldn't be skydiving at all.

“Now I look back and almost laugh at how far I've come, minus the 15kg I lost in weight I've become much more confident nowadays.

“I feel with motivation you can push yourself beyond what you thought you were capable of, and just smash your limits.

“I feel that SSAFA do the same thing; they help people at rock bottom and light the fuse to ignite that motivation. This work in particular appeals to me, as it could be argued that helping our veterans is the most important part of joining the military itself.

“SSAFA certainly does achieve this and more which is why I chose them as the charity to raise money for.”
