Volunteer Divisional Secretary Needed
29 August 2019
We are looking to fill a vacancy for a divisional secretary to coordinate SSAFA services in the West Hertfordshire Division which is one of three divisions that cover Hertfordshire. A military background is not needed just basic IT and admin skills plus the ability to get on with a wide range of people. The role is about co-ordination and administration. It is based primarily at home. You will be supported by a Divisional Treasurer who records the flow of funds in and out of SSAFA accounts using an on-line banking system and keeping you informed of the financial situation using the on-line casework management system.
The Divisional Secretary has a team of caseworkers who visit clients that are in need of assistance. As the first point of contact for the Division you will be told of potential clients and will contact them to ascertain their problem(s). Our clients are Serving or ex Armed Forces and come from all backgrounds and age groups. In recognition of their Service we aim to provide financial, practical and emotional support when needed. You play a key role matching the potential clients and their needs to one of the caseworkers using an on-line casework management system.
Training courses are provided for both case working (3 days) and management (one day). A car is not essential but access to one would be an asset. All out-of-pocket expenses are paid.
