Alresford Choir to host Remembrance Concert in aid of Armed Forces

22 October 2025

The Alresford Community Choir (ACC) is inviting residents to a special Remembrance Concert on Saturday 8 November at 7:30pm, held at St John’s Church, New Alresford.

This year’s concert, titled “Songs in Remembrance”, will feature a programme of music in memory of those lost in conflict and those who served. With a choir of around 100 local voices, the evening will include pieces such as Crossing the Bar and Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, as well as uplifting and nostalgic favourites like The Bold Grenadier, La Mer and Moon River.

Proceeds from a retiring collection at the concert will be shared between SSAFA, and the Royal British Legion, supporting veterans and serving personnel in need.

Sally Wesley, Community Engagement Volunteer with SSAFA Hampshire and Finance Trustee of ACC, said: “This concert is not a formal remembrance service, but a musical tribute – a chance for us to come together as a community to reflect and remember through song. We’ve had wonderful feedback in the past, and we’re proud that this year’s event will support two charities close to our hearts.”

All are welcome to attend this evening of choral music, remembrance, and community spirit in the historic setting of St John’s Church.
