Live ChatRecognising local veterans 75 years on - VJ day

SSAFA Glasgow will be visiting around 30 veterans in Glasgow and local areas, such as Dunbartonshire and Rutherglen, to recognise their service 75 years on from VJ Day.
The team from SSAFA will be visiting veterans across the region and providing them with a hamper, gifted by Walkers, Baxers and PK Foods, on Saturday 15th August.
Linda Liddell, Branch Secretary for SSAFA Glasgow, said: “The Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown has been a really difficult time for many, especially our veterans.
We wanted to make sure they received the recognition they deserved on what is likely to be the last occasion to acknowledge their service.”
The team from SSAFA will be visiting around thirty veterans on the day to provide them with some company, a listening ear and a hamper with some treats inside, such as shortbread and cake.
Personnel from Faslane Naval Base and 51st Highlanders and RAF have all offered support for the initiative and will be assisting SSAFA Glasgow on the day.
