Dorset Volunteers Given Prestigious Award

Nicholas Bate, John Barrett and Bob Perry were awarded the Sir James Gildea Award last month for their services to SSAFA Dorset and the continued support they provide to the Armed Forces community.
SSAFA’s Sir James Gildea Awards were created to recognised volunteers and employees for their exceptional contribution and commitment to SSAFA’s activities and values.
Nicholas Bate, a caseworker at SSAFA Dorset, has gone above and beyond for local veterans in Dorset. In the last year, he has obtained Legion d’Honneurs and long overdue medals for four veterans and ensured they received the recognition they deserved for their services.
In addition to this, he maintains complete professionalism and has demonstrated an extraordinary talent for handling complicated cases.
John Barrett, Divisional Secretary at SSAFA Dorset, is an influential force within regional Veterans in the Criminal Justice System (VCJS) activities as the support coordinator for Dorset and Wiltshire. He is dedicated to supporting the very complex needs of veterans as they as re-enter society, whilst maintaining complete professionalism.
In addition to this, John ensures all caseworkers are provided with the support to aid those serving, veterans and their families.
Bob Perry, a caseworker at SSAFA Dorset, has been recognised for going the extra mile for beneficiaries in Dorset through his Woodland courses that help veterans adjust to modern civilian life. His boundless enthusiasm and commitment to veterans has made him stand out from the crowd and be recognised for his endless dedication to the community.
