Team-McAdam raises £2,427 for SSAFA
10 September 2019
The Mc-Adam team, comprising of Gary McAdam, his two sons (Connor and Kyle) and his friend Simon, dedicated themselves to run the Simplyhealth Great North Run Half Marathon, in memory of Michelle McAdam.
Michelle (Gary's wife), sadly passed away on 11 November 2019, aged just 47, after a short battle with cancer. As a family they received support from SSAFA, to help deal with their loss and funeral costs. Gary decided to donate all the funds to SSAFA, as a token of gratitude for the support they gave him and his family.
In addition, Mychelle left behind her youngest son, Kian, who was just 12 years old at the time of his mother’s death. Before she passed away, Gary promised to take care of Kian as if he was one of his own and as of 1 May 2019, following a lengthy court battle, he became the legal guardian / dad of Kian.
“The support we received from SSAFA during this difficult time was incredible. Team-McAdam are so honoured to be running The Simplyhealth Great North Run for SSAFA and helping other members of the military community who might need the same support.” - Gary McAdam
His family have a strong military background, Gary is an RAF veteran and his two sons (Connor and Kyle), are both currently serving in the REME corps of the Army.
