CASEWORKER STORY

16 January 2020

I was asked in February 2019 to see Mr & Mrs L to seek assistance for a week's respite care at Princes Marina House.  Mr L has mobility issues and his wife is his carer.  I raised the necessary funds from the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust.  While looking at their benefits, I advised them to get on to the Department for Works and Pensions as I felt they were being short changed, this resulted in an increase in their benefit.

I then referred Mr L to the local Adult Social Care as I felt he needed a stair lift.  This resulted in an Occupational Therapist visit and a stair lift being installed through the Local Authority.

I also contacted The Royal British Legion to obtain two lifeline wristbands for them.

I noticed that Mr L's legs were getting worse and raised the necessary funds for a private Occupational Therapist assessment and an Electric Powered Vehicle from The Royal British Legion.

Sadly Mr L passed away on 22nd November 2019.  His family are happy for us to post his story and picture on this microsite.
