5K Swim for SSAFA

18 November 2019

Andrew Geoghegan, who formerly served in the 3rd Battalion Paratroop Regiment in the Falklands Way, has raised the staggering amount of £582 for the SSAFA Sussex Eastbourne Division.

Andrew ran the London Marathon in the mid 90's but due to aback injury, was unable to continue running so took up swimming, finding it therapeutic both mentally and physically and has swum regularly since, both in pools and open water.

At the end of August 2019, he swam 5k in the River Adur for SSAFA Sussex and is already planning several other open water evens in 2020.  During his swimming training he damaged the rotator cuff in his shoulder so his recent swim was particularly challenging due to the pain this caused him.

Congratulations to Andrew and thank you for all of us in SSAFA Sussex and, in particular the Eastbourne Division, for all you have done for us, particularly while suffering with your damaged shoulder.
