Through real stories and acted portrayals, this campaign shows some of these challenges. And why SSAFA’s purpose is to reach and embrace our military family, so they never battle alone.

Some veterans only need a single conversation. Others need longer term support to help lift them out of the crippling effects of isolation, homelessness, hopelessness. SSAFA provides welfare and wellbeing support, tailored to individual needs.
We cannot support them without your generous donations.
SSAFA helps many thousands of serving personnel, veterans and forces’ family members every year. It often starts with one of the hardest decisions: asking for help.
A veteran of combat in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, Dean knew he was capable. But life as a civilian was more difficult than he had imagined, without his unit, facing down both PTSD and family tragedy.
A veteran of the Brigade of Gurkhas, Jas found life after the Army isolating. SSAFA was there for him and his Gurkha comrades, with a project that brought friends and family together.
Cool under pressure, Jacqui was an RAF air traffic controller, but when she started to lose control of her life, it was SSAFA who helped her navigate her problems.
Lee struggled with both purpose and a family tragedy after he was medically discharged from the Army. But his SSAFA Mentor, and now friend, Laurence, guided him to find happiness and success on 'civvy street'.
