Openreach staff raise over £50,000 for SSAFA

The fundraising trek took place at the end of November 2018, and raised an astonishing £52,600 specifically in aid of Forcesline, SSAFA,'s free and confidential helpline for serving men and women, veterans and their families. This is a vital service which provides emotional support and practical guidance to the UK Armed Forces community, from help with mental health struggles to debt and housing advice. This service is facing ever-increasing demand, with more than 14,000 calls and emails being made to Forcesline in the first half of 2018 alone.

This was one of the most rewarding experiences I have been involved with, from the feeling of achievement after the physical challenge to the pride I feel knowing that we have raised over £52,000 for SSAFA.  I encourage anyone to take up the next trek, so they can feel the emotional highs that I have felt since.

We are delighted with the success of the Nepal Trek, which was the highlight of our fourth successful year in partnership with Openreach. Those lucky enough to go on the trek put in a phenomenal amount of time and effort in advance and ended up raising a significant sum towards our Forcesline helpline.  We are already looking forward to this year's trek to Mount Toubkal, and we are working with Openreach on extending our successful partnership into the future.
