SSAFA Durham honoured with County Durham Volunteering Award

On Wednesday 6 June, SSAFA Durham was awarded a County Durham Volunteering Award for their dedication and contribution to helping others in their local community.

Held at the Durham Cathedral, a world heritage site, representatives from the SSAFA Durham branch were taken on a guided tour of the cathedral learning more about the rich history of the building, followed by a visit to the Open Treasure exhibition which explores the people, history and Christian message at the heart of the Cathedral’s life and worship from Roman times to now.

After the informative tour, the award ceremony commenced where the Durham branch was presented with a certificate to honour the commitment they have made to volunteering for those in need.

We are proud that our volunteers’ passion and contributions have been recognised especially by the agencies that support these awards.

Thank you to Mike Donne (Chairman), Paul Moore (Branch Secretary), Brian West (Assistant Branch Secretary), Anne Carson (Caseworker and Branch Office Assistant) and all volunteers at the Durham branch for their tireless efforts towards our Armed Forces.
