Jim is co-driver in SSAFA's car for our Rally for Heroes 2014 charity challenge. In his day job, he looks after fundraising for SSAFA in Wales and the West of England.
We set off in style after a Eurofighter Jet gave us a flyby and Vicki Butler-Henderson waved the chequered flag. With cheers from our families, friends and supporters we did a lap of the Top Gear track at Dunsfold Park before heading of on our 3,000 mile adventure.
Guildford was brought to a standstill as our full police escort stopped the traffic, women and children waved and cheered and we all felt the support of the whole community.
When we got to Dover we were greeted by the people at English Heritage and parked in front of Dover castle before boarding the ferry and setting off for the continent.
I'm happy to report that we only lost one car on the other side as their sat nav lead them into a field! Luckily they were soon with us again and we all sped (at a respectable speed) to Antwerp.
Its now 10.45 and I'm going to get into bed.
