Domestic Abuse Outreach

If you are affected by Domestic Abuse, or other breakdowns in your family relationships, then please get in touch with our Domestic Abuse Outreach team. We can provide help with physical and emotional domestic abuse, from repairing damaged relationships to moving on and away from partners you no longer feel safe with.

The level of support I have received has been outstanding. This support has helped me through some difficult times and I hope many others will be fortunate enough to benefit from what I have been lucky enough to receive.

SSAFA’s Domestic Abuse Outreach Team provide confidential and compassionate support to anyone in the Armed forces community affected by Domestic Abuse. We can help people recognise abuse, understand their options, and navigate practical and emotional support in a safe and non-judgemental way. We can offer advice, advocacy, or simply someone to listen.

Who we help

  • Serving personnel, Veterans, and their families affected by domestic abuse
  • Spouses, partners, ex-partners, and dependants within the Armed forces community
  • Individuals experiencing physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, financial or coercive control.
  • Anyone unsure whether what they are experiencing “counts” as abuse and seeking guidance.
  • People needing appropriate signposting, safety planning or wider specialist support.

How we help

  • Confidential, non-judgmental support from trained outreach workers
  • Practical advice to help understand abuse, rights, and available options
  • Safety planning to protect you and your family
  • Advocacy and guidance when accessing housing, legal support, safeguarding, or other agencies
  • Emotional support for those processing trauma, fear, or uncertainty

You Are Not Alone

Reaching out can be a difficult step but talking to someone who understands can be the start of feeling safer and more in control.

We are here to listen, support, and help you navigate your next steps with compassion.

Please note that SSAFA's services are only available to people who have received at least one day's pay from the Armed Forces (British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Royal Marines, including Reserves), or are in the immediate family of someone who served.
