What is the Reducing Homelessness for Veterans in Scotland project?
Reducing Homelessness for Veterans in Scotland is a collaborative initiative led by Veterans Housing Scotland (VHS), in partnership with SSAFA’s Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH) and the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS). The project aims to tackle housing insecurity among veterans across Scotland by providing coordinated, holistic support that addresses the root causes of homelessness.
Funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, the project delivers medium-to-high level, adaptable support tailored to individual needs. This includes:
- Help with priority debts (rent, energy, council tax)
- Welfare benefits and employability guidance
- Financial support and wellbeing services
- Early intervention and tenancy sustainment
Together, these organisations are working to restore stability, dignity, and hope for veterans and their families, with services running through to 2026.
