Virtual pancake day in Cyprus a great success

05 March 2021

This year for Pancake Day, on February 17, SSAFA Cyprus encouraged children from the Armed Forces community to cook with their parents and explore their creativity through the form of pancakes.

Rianna Machen, SSAFA Community Dietitian said: “We aim to enrich and enjoy our food. Pancake Day was a great opportunity to promote thinking outside the box, getting children involved in the process of preparing food and increase fruit and vegetable intake, in our diets as well as our little ones. Given limited interaction between the community due to restrictions, sharing our enriched creations has created a sense of a virtual community.”

The ‘little chefs’ from the Armed Forces community used colour and tried new foods in the process of rising to the challenge.

SSAFA provides a range of community health services to military families posted in British Forces Cyprus. This includes services such as Health Visiting, Midwifery, Speech & Language Therapy and School Nursing, amongst others. ssafa.org.uk/get-help/health-care-for-the-military-community-overseas
