Local IT company provides care packages to Gurkha community

19 October 2020

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, with the assistance of SecureCloud+, has provided their beneficiaries with a special surprise as they successfully delivered gift parcels to all 120 members throughout the month of September.

The gift parcels were generously provided by SecureCloud+ to help the Gurkha community during the pandemic. The Gurkha project, run by SSAFA Reading, has been pivotal in helping Gurkha families adjust to modern society by equipping them with life skills needed to be able to communicate effectively. SSAFA's Gurkha services are for people who have served in the Brigade of Gurkhas or are the immediate family of someone who has served.

As most of their members are currently shielding due to COVID-19, SecureCloud+ ensured that socially distanced deliveries were made possible, ensuring that all packages were handled with care.

Peter Williamson- CEO of SecureCloud+ said, ‘We feel it is our duty to support the community in any way we can. SSAFA is a charity that is very close to a lot of SecureCloud+ staff members and me included. Ever since the company was founded, we looked to help the Armed Forces through the wider community with our outreach projects. We are in awe of work SSAFA does and we hope that the care packages give the Gurkha families a boost as we deal with the pandemic.’

Pam Reynolds, Volunteer for SSAFA Reading said,

"We would like to send our thanks to SecureCloud+ for their kind gesture to help our members. The pandemic has been a very difficult transition for everyone in the community. These wonderful gifts distributed by SecureCloud+ will be a welcome boost to the Gurkha Community.

SecureCloud+ have included items that will be useful during the pandemic such as face masks, hand sanitisers as well as herbs, notebooks amongst other stationary equipment provided. As part of an ongoing initiative with SSAFA, SecureCloud+ will continue to support SSAFA towards their Gurkha Services which provide tailored support for Gurkha veterans and their families who have settled in the UK.

Please feel free to call our Forcesline if you need any support.
