Evelyn Strouts

Following ten years in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, Evelyn joined the John Lewis Partnership as a Registrar: a personnel welfare/Ombudsman role. During her 26 year career with John Lewis, she had many different roles, both operational and support, including Head of Public Relations and Marketing, first in Waitrose and then in the Department Store division and Head Office.

On leaving John Lewis, she became a volunteer Honorary Representative (Caseworker) at the Armed Forces charity The Officers’ Association whilst also becoming a Career Consultant at the charity. She subsequently took over as Head of Grants and Welfare. During this time she became familiar with other Armed Forces and civilian charities, including SSAFA. Part of her role was to recruit, train and support Honorary Representatives, many of whom were dual-hatted as SSAFA Caseworkers.

On retirement from The Officers’ Association, she became a SSAFA Trustee in September 2016.
