1) Search for a role and apply
You can search and apply for our current paid vacancies via our current vacancies page.
You will be guided to create an account for our recruitment platform (BeApplied).
As standard, we will ask you to confirm some information related to the role you are applying for - such as right to work, notice period, criminal convictions and any reasonable adjustments you may need for the recruitment process.
You’ll then answer a set of work sample questions. These questions are often scenario-based and designed to reflect real aspects of the role. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills, experience and approach.
Finally, you will be asked to upload your CV.
At this stage, your application is anonymous. This means personal information such as your name, CV, education history and personal details are hidden from the hiring panel.
As part of your application, you’ll be asked to confirm that your responses are your own, have not been plagiarised or written by others, and have not been automatically generated using any software.
2) Anonymous review and shortlisting
Your answers to the work sample questions are reviewed and scored by the hiring panel using agreed criteria. Each application is assessed independently to ensure consistency and fairness.
All applications are reviewed by the hiring panel; we do not use AI to make decisions in the recruitment process.
Candidates who meet the benchmark score at this stage will be invited to complete the next part of the process.
3) Skills and psychometric testing
If shortlisted, you’ll be asked to complete a skills and psychometric assessment, delivered through our assessment partner, Test Partnership.
These assessments help us understand how you work, solve problems and apply your skills in a work context. The results from this stage are combined with your work sample scores to create an overall average score.
We use this combined score to determine which candidates are shortlisted for interview.
4) Interview stage
Candidates shortlisted for interview will be invited to attend an interview with the hiring panel. Interviews may be conducted remotely or in-person.
It is only at this stage that personal details and CVs are shared with the panel. This ensures that all earlier decisions are based solely on skills, abilities and potential.
The interview gives you the opportunity to expand on your experience, learn more about the role and ask any questions you may have about working with SSAFA.
