About the role
We’re looking for someone who is committed to providing the best possible support for their local service community to be Community Volunteer Coordinator. In this role you will coordinate support for the local serving community in your area. You will usually work on your local base or station.
Our coordinators have some involvement in many aspects of our work, especially ensuring that we provide a confidential support service. You will work together with your service committee chairman and local SSAFA staff to help you do your work to a high standard. You will be responsible for matching up our volunteers with the people that they will work with and providing them with continuing support and training. You will oversee the progress of volunteers’ work with different beneficiaries and seek advice when it is needed.
We’re looking for someone who is skilled at talking to people and developing good working relationships. This will help you to promote the service within your local Armed Forces community and to work well together with other agencies.
Another key aspect of your role will to be monitor the service that volunteers provide to the community, including observation of volunteers’ work.
What makes volunteering with SSAFA special is that in all areas of your role you’ll get to see first hand the difference you make to people’s lives.
